A Lasting Legacy
On 1st December 2016, Ranelagh was honoured to accept an award for outstanding service to its local community. The awards, which are in their second year, celebrate individuals and groups in the communities served by London's Docklands Light Railway (DLR). Having been part and winners of the Community Championship awards for a number of years, the prestigious Community Champions panel wanted to honour the contribution which was made by Ranelagh Primary School and the late Angela Tapscott. Angela Tapscott received the lifetime Achievement award, for individual achievements that have been “far-reaching and sustained over a number of years.” Not only was she honoured with this amazing award, but the award for Teacher of the Year is now named after our beloved Angela Tapscott. |
Sue Green, Ranelagh’s learning mentor, put Angela’s name forward and Shella Lawrenson, Acting Head teacher of Ranelagh, collected the award alongside Angela's family at a prestigious ceremony held at the Radisson Blu 5 Star Hotel. "Angela was a passionate member of our local community and meant so much to everyone in and around Ranelagh," she shared, adding, "We know that her memory will inspire countless others to continue to act and become involved in their communities."
