The Olympic Legacy
By the time children leave Ranelagh, they know the contribution people from their community make to the wider society and that their stories are important for future generations. This is why Ranelagh is excited to be part of Newham's Heritage Month events - The Olympic Legacy. Children from Year 5, most of whom were born during the year of the London Olympics, ventured to Newham's archives to feast their eyes up on the artefacts of this time. They held the Olympic torches and posters from that time.
Over the next month, they will interview people who were directly involved in the contribution they made during the 2012 Olympic Games. Being involved with this wonderful celebration will ensure that the children of Ranelagh see themselves as Historians and legacy-makers of the future.
