Children's Mental Health Week 3rd February - 9th February 2025

The week beginning 3rd February 2025, launches Children's Mental Health Week.  Ranelagh and the nation will be learning about having good mental health and ways we can achieve this.

We will be discussing, debating and deliberating about our mental health and wellbeing during the week.
On Friday 7th, we will be having a non-uniform day to celebrate all of our learning around this. On this occasion, there is no donation or cost - just be happy!

Parents and carers can also get involved too. Just click on the link

  • What a Glorious Garden

    Published 25/09/17

As Summer draws to a close, our budding gardeners have been marvelling at the abundant plant life in the Ranelagh Garden. Kyle, in Year 5, couldn't believe the size of the sunflowers he'd planted in Spring. "They are taller than the Year 6 girls!" Kyle said, adding "it's great to see what I've grown and the amount of sunflower seeds inside the head" (or capitulas as he will learn in Science this year).

  • Meet Our New School Leaders

    Published 18/09/17

As another year starts anew, Ranelagh chooses its new school leaders. Children in Key Stage Two, eager to be given even more responsibility, wrote letters to our Year 6 leader, Ms Selsby, explaining why they would make remarkable House Captains or Prefects. The children's letters demonstrated their adept ability to persuade and Ms. Selsby had the difficult task of whittling the letters down to a specially selected chosen few. Mrs. Lawrenson announced the new House Captains and Prefects in our special Friday assembly and each child was awarded with their very own, gold-encrusted badge. Mrs. Lawrenson explained the vital role that these children would have in our school over the coming year.

  • Ranelagh: A Leader in Autism Education

    Published 18/09/17

Ranelagh has been recognised by the Ambitious Education Trust (AET) as a leader in providing good autism provision. As such, the school (along with 2 other schools within our multi academy trust) is now an accredited trainer providing help to schools  centred around good autism practice. This accreditation, supported by the Department of Education, is all the more valuable as we are now the only multi academy trust who can share good practise and knowledge regarding autism across the whole of East London.

  • An Inspector Calls - A Year 6 Production

    Published 19/07/17

The end of the school year just wouldn’t be the same without a school show. This year, our amazing year sixes didn’t disappoint, staging a brilliant production of Andrew Oxspring’s An Inspector Calls. The play is centred around a school who, at the end of the year, and in the last week of the term, find themselves unfortunately receiving a last minute inspection. Chaos, panic and hilarity ensue as the staff and students aim to ‘pull up their socks’ and impress the inspectors.

  • Thank You For Making a Difference

    Published 11/07/17

Mrs Sehnaj Patel, our Inclusion Manager, was overwhelmed when she was presented with a certificate of excellence from Pearson Teaching Awards.

The awards were established in 1999 as a means of celebrating and recognising excellence in education. They serve to honour outstanding teachers, from across Great Britain, and highlight just how vital success in education is to the health and wealth of the UK.

Mrs. Patel was presented with the prestigious award, in front of parents, staff and students, on the day of our end of year concert. She was nominated by one of our parents for her contribution to children with special needs, who wrote "Thank you for everything and the whole team - all of Ranelagh Primary School, for being understanding and caring."

  • Places of Worship Winners!

    Published 03/07/17

Ranelagh has long been a proud member of Religion Matters, a programme that works in partnership with the borough to advise on the teaching and learning of religious education. One of the more excitement elements of the programme is the Places of Worship Art Competition, where over 80 schools across Newham submit religiously-themed artwork, inspired by a visit to a place of worship.

Every child in our school is provided the opportunity to visit a different place of worship each year, celebrating different faiths. From Early Years to Year 6, children at Ranelagh visit a church, a mosque, a synagogue, a gurdwara, a mandir, a Buddhist temple and the Salvation Army. Drawing inspiration from their visits, and back in the classroom, the children reflect on what they learn. Their learning and the activities therein then compose some of the pieces that are then chosen to be entered for competition.

  • Ranelagh Hosts Spanish Visitors

    Published 29/06/17

In June, Ranelagh played host to some very special guests who travelled all the way from Spain to learn about our school. Children from Las Salinas, our sister school from the sunny province of Almeria, in Southern Spain, were delighted to spend a week in our school observing lessons, speaking with staff and students, and exploring London.

Las Salinas, located in the town of Roquetas de Mar, has been part of a cultural exchange with Ranelagh for a few years now, sharing practice and hosting students from each other’s schools for a unique educational experience.

The visit began with their arrival on Monday afternoon. Famished and tired from a long flight, they were quickly whisked off to an evening meal along Green Street, taking in the sights and sounds of our local community. Curious and insightful, they enjoyed getting to know the staff and asking loads of questions about our school.

  • Parents Maths Mornings

    Published 23/06/17

Who doesn’t love a bit of Maths? The parents of Ranelagh certainly do! All this week parents from across the school enjoyed taking part in different Maths activities and games with their children.

Each classroom played host and had different activities and games that the parents dove into. Disha, in Year 5, revelled at the chance to beat both her parents in a game of ‘Fifteen,’ choosing three numbers to make a sum of 15 before her parents could, adding that “It was awesome to have my parents in the classroom with me doing Maths. I loved challenging them both and beating them a few times!”
